Techne im Lehen with Tyler Coburn and Ian Hatcher is the first in a series of gatherings with the resident artists of Techne, a production platform drawing on the slippages between making, doing and the ethics thereof.
Coburn and Hatcher’s current collaborative project, Remote Viewer explores the psychic spying units run by the CIA and the Stanford Research Institute between the 1970s and the mid-1990s. These remote viewing units trained people with supposedly exceptional psionic abilities to mentally travel to covert sites and describe what they saw and experienced, using a pen, paper, and sometimes a mound of clay.
On this evening in Das Lehen, Coburn and Hatcher join Fatima Hellberg and Johanna Markert in a conversation about remote viewing and the ways in which it connects with, and loops back to questions of knowability, technology and power.
The next gathering will take place on Sunday 25 June, 4pm with theatre collective Oblivia.
6–8pm, Das Lehen, Lehenstraße 13, 70180 Stuttgart
